Lenoir County - Region 10
Approximately 55,000 people call Lenoir County home. Kinston is the county seat and is located on the Neuse River. The city carries some history along its downtown streets where you can find the first courthouse that was built in 1779, still in its very same spot. Its frame structure at the corners of Queen and King Streets housed the courthouse, prison, and stocks. Just a couple of blocks south from the courthouse is the Lenoir County Health Department. Lenoir County’s location is truly central to eastern North Carolina, as it is about 75 miles east of Raleigh (our state’s capital) and 75 miles west of Morehead City (our coast).
